All the Spanish Holiday Vocabularies You Would Love to Know for a “Feliz Navidad”
Todo lo que quiero para Navidad eres tú. Feliz Navidad
“All I want for Christmas is you.” Merry Christmas
Here we are! You may recognize it from the popular tune – Feliz Navidad.
In English, feliz translates as “happy” and navidad means “nativity”.
So, it actually means “Happy Christmas” or “Happy Nativity”.
How do you say, Christmas Eve?
You say Nochebuena for Christmas Eve.
It means “the Good Night”, and it’s the day most great celebrations happen in Spain, like the dinner feast with family and Midnight Mass.
All Families often stay up all night during Nochebuena celebrating together and opening gifts after the midnight mass.
The traditional Christmas flower, the Poinsettia, is also called Flor de Nochebuena (“The flower of the Good Night”).
